Markets
The markets Nightshade opens with, and how anyone opens another.
A market is a pair: a token you buy and sell (the base) and the token its price is in (the quote). SHADE/USDM is SHADE priced in USDM; MOTH/SHADE is MOTH priced in SHADE.
Markets at launch
| Market | What it is |
|---|---|
| SHADE/USDM | SHADE against a dollar stablecoin. USDM comes from Cardano through VIA (Bring tokens to Midnight). |
| MOTH/SHADE | Moon Moth, a meme coin Nightshade launched through its own launch page, traded against SHADE. It has no other use. |
On the Preview testnet the same markets run with test tokens, and tUSD, a free test dollar, stands in for USDM.
Anyone can open a market
Nightshade is permissionless: anyone can launch a token with its market, or open a market for a token that already exists. A pair can only be opened once. Markets in the side menu lists every market, busiest first, and search finds any token or market by name.
Anyone can launch a token, so check one before you buy it: its page shows its markets, its links and its trades. An imported token shows a warning that it isn't verified until Nightshade has reviewed it.
Private markets
The Private Book has its own markets, one for each pair Nightshade lists there, traded in private twins (sSHADE/sUSDM, for example).
